This members-only club next to Rotterdam Central Station has the best rooftop terrace in the city. Find a Rotterdammer (buy me a cocktail for instance) to take you there or fill out the application form here to get in and enjoy warm summer nights on the coolest terrace in town.

The most popular hotelbar in Rotterdam has an outstanding view on the Erasmusbridge. Whether you are here for just a fresh mint tea during the day or for a long night of good talks over classy cocktails, you will always feel on top of the world with this view.

Hotel New York

For years Hotel New York was the most popular place to be. On summer nights, or even on the chilly evenings during spring and fall, their terrace with a view on the harbour is the best place to see the sun set. Go here for dinner or bring your own picknick to the lawn in front of the hotel.

Vessel 11

The red light ship Vessel 11 is a small ‘gastro-pub’ in the center of Rotterdam. Their terrace is one of the best kept secrets in town, because most visitors think the ship is part of the Maritime Museum next door. A lovely place if you like a non-touristy crowd.

Het Nieuwe Instituut

This museum restaurant is open to anyone during opening hours of the museum. For me it is the best place for a lazy morning with a book and a cup of coffee. The view is a weird combination of architecture, art and tranquility.

De Tuin

All Rotterdammers know De Tuin at the city lake Kralingse Plas. It is hard to reach by public transport, but it is definitely worth the effort. Enjoy the view on the lake or go for a little walk to enjoy the view on the skyline.

UEB & Bokaal

The buzzing sound of hundreds of people talking and laughing gets you in the right mood straight away. Bokaal is a popular bar where people start their evenings after work. Usually they end the evening here too 😉 If you have all the time in the world go to Urban Espresso Bar during day time, which is just around the corner with a lovely sunny terrace.

Vroesenpaviljoen

Parks are a great place to relax and enjoy the sun. Close to Rotterdam’s Blijdorp Zoo you’ll find Vroesenpark. Their terrace has a great view on the park where people come to read, play games or barbecue. Don’t worry if you get hungry: Vroesenpaviljoen has a good menu!

Tiendplein

Experience the essence of Rotterdam on the multi cultural Tiendplein. Beer and burger bar Holy Smoke attracts a hipster crowd form all ages, halal-restaurant Madera House serves good food and Rijad is the popular hangout for Moroccan youngsters. All sharing the same square with an art piece that tells it all: the world is yours!

This is by far the best place to start your weekend, whether it starts on friday or any weekday. As long as the sun is shining, people are enjoying their beers and burgers in a party-kinda style.

Alohabar

Where once kids were playing in a large swimming pool with multiple waterslides, people are now partying and enjoying the sunset. This former waterpark is now a popular hipster hangout, with most of the features of the swimming pool still present. Check it out and you won’t be disappointed.
